I’ve been a bit Subslack with this month’s article being a week late, life has taken priority. However, I’m committed to sharing my insights from June. Enjoy!
Things I’ve been curious about;
The journey of an idea and how it evolves over time, platforms, and people.
In January, whilst out running with my friend Ryan, we came up with an idea to create an experience around yoga, meditation, and connection. Over a six-month period, it took a team of four, plus multiple partners, vendors, and attendees to bring this idea to life.
At PEACE intended to explore the journey one takes to be at peace with self and the external world. Our aim was disrupt how yoga/meditation looks and feels – taking inspiration from street sub-cultures, music, and art.
Here’s are a few of my key learnings from idea to reality;
Learning #1 - The first idea is never the final product; I’ve learnt to hold the idea loosely and allow it to evolve over time. This invited in collaboration, redirection, and expertise into the creative process. (*Nothing is ever linear)
Learning #2 – Ideas rarely come in front of my computer. Get moving, my best ideas or realisations come from when I’m out running or in nature. Embrace moments of inspiration and write ‘em down! Even if it’s mid-run, my notes are jammed packed with random words, paragraphs, even voice notes.
Learning #3 – Take action; even if I’m not 100% clear on the vision, action brings results, and builds momentum. Once I’m on a roll, opportunities or people seem to gravitate towards me at the right time.
Learning #4 – Build a team. I love working with people who I can learn from, plus, it’s way more enjoyable to share the experience with a crew.
Learning #5 – Reflect on the results. This part can be overlooked cause the fun part is over, but I see it as the most critical. I’ve found by reflecting and refining the formula, it’s a lot easier to deliver the second- or third-time round.
Thank you to those involved, it was truly a pleasure creating with you all.
Things I’ve seen lately;
Here’s a collection of images and moments from the month of June.

Things that are coming up;
On the back of Gold Coast Marathon, I was inspired by those around me that I’ve signed up for the Melbourne Marathon full 42.2km. (yes I got a entry)
I’ve been putting this off for multiple reasons, injury, priorities, fear of failure, but this year I’m gonna have a red-hot crack at the Sub 3-hour marathon.
Better still, I’m gonna document the highs and lows leading up to it, more on this next month.
As always, thanks for reading and move with curiosity (and action),
Willocks x
