Happy Money + Zooming out.
A simple perspective change, often brings the biggest energy change.
Here we go, some insights into what’s been making me stop and be present more often.
Things I’ve been curious about
I’ve always thought investing [money] was keeping up with the stock market, calculating futures, or compounding index funds. Another language, something way too complex for me to understand.
After reading Happy Money by Ken Honda my perspective has shifted dramatically.
Turns out, I’ve been investing all my life.
In my relationships, community, and life experiences. I’m forever grateful for the deep connections I have and will have in the future.
Happy Money explores the concept of money as an energy or ‘currency’, meaning it should be in flow. The book explains how we all have different relationships or archetypes with money. I learnt that I was a hoarder, I’d hold onto my money for a rainy day, or as a safety net. This was blocking the flow of money in my life.
The way to fix it. Spend money on myself, loved ones, and experiences. (Great! but tough when you ain’t making much cash).
Here’s an example of how it’s worked for me, after my recent trip back to Aotearoa I was approached by a company I’ve admired, and been inspired by, to collaborate on an experience in 2024 (I’ll share more about this in time).
Spend money, share the experience - new things come to me.
To bottom line it; Flow out, means flow in. You must trust that good things will come to you if you share/spend them.
**Disclaimer: This isn’t financial advice, it’s an insight on how I’ve invested in my financial well-being.
Things I’ve seen lately
I’ve been pretty slack the last month with getting the camera out, however, I did get some film back from NZ. (plus some city snaps + night rides)
Things I’ve learnt (about myself)
The power of zooming out.
I’ve always been interested with the idea of what is pushing and pulling me. Like a pacer in a running race.
Lately I’ve been exploring zooming out more frequently. Zooming out widens the aperture, brings more perspective to what’s pushing and pulling me, and a sense of connection to the long-term plan.
This allows me to embrace the ‘why’ phase for longer, why am I doing this? It allows me to be in choice around where I put my time and energy.
A simple perspective change, often brings the biggest energy change.
I see feedback as a gift, so if you have any insights, learnings, or comments, I will welcome them in the space below or hit me up directly. Also, if someone came to mind whilst reading this, send it over to them. Share the knowledge.
As always, move with curiosity,
